BC Fallen Paramedic Day
Dear Members;
In 2015, the BC Government officially declared May 6th British Columbia Fallen Paramedic Day. A monument was erected on the south lawn of the legislature in Victoria and dedicated to the 10 paramedics who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Every year, we gather together at the monument to remember, honour and celebrate the lives of our colleagues who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
This year’s ceremony starts at 3:00 pm at the monument on May 6th, 2018. The APBC Ceremonial Unit will begin the ceremony with the Ceremonial Piper, the laying of the monument arrangement, followed by a moment of silence and the official posting of sentries. Sentries will change over at 4:00 pm. At 5:00 pm a changing of the guard will take place when the BCEHS Honour Guard will assume sentry position.
On May 6th, we ask that you take a moment to remember our fallen:
- Tony Sunderland
- Theresa Bond
- Carol Schlamp
- Wendy Thompson
- Andreas Goedicke
- Shawn Currier
- Kim Weitzel
- Michael Gray
- JoAnn Fuller
- Ivan Polivka
If you are able, please consider attending the ceremony or visiting the monument on May 6th.
Gone but never forgotten.
Sincerely,
