President’s Update “It is with mixed emotions that I write my final presidents’ message to you. As you know, I have decided not to seek re-election for another term. A decision that took much time and consideration to make, but in the end, I believe is the right one for my family and myself.”

Thank You: Cameron Eby & Corey Viala “This month, following Convention, we say goodbye to two valuable members of our Executive team.  Combined they have dedicated decades of service to our union, supporting members and creating a better work environment for paramedics and dispatchers in BC.”
 
Provincial Chief Grievance Officer (PCGO) Update “We have now been able to conclude and close all but a few grievances prior to 2016. The remaining few are set for arbitration and currently we have four appeals set to be reviewed. “

Suicide Awareness Day “September 10th was suicide awareness day across Canada, a day to promote conversations that bring awareness to this important issue and to end the stigma associated with suicide. According to the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC), suicide is one of the top 10 causes of death in Canada. It has serious “lasting, harmful effects on individuals, families, and communities”. ”   

Ceremonial Unit Spotlight: Meet Joanna Stefani “Joanna joined the Ceremonial Unit in the fall of 2017 as a piper.  As the majority of her family are members of an emergency service, she really appreciates how smart a well-trained unit looks in public. She takes pride in her profession and enjoys representing the APBC to show her passion of being a paramedic and a piper.”
