32nd Anniversary of loss of Paramedic Unit Chief Theresa Bond
May 4, 2022
Dear Members,
Re: 32nd Anniversary of loss of Paramedic Unit Chief Theresa Bond
Today, on May 4th, we remember the anniversary of the tragic loss of paramedic Theresa Bond. Theresa, who was 42 at the time of her death, was the Unit Chief of the Atlin station in northwest British Columbia. She died in a plane crash en route to a Unit Chief’s meeting in Smithers. Theresa joined the BCAS in 1980 and became the Unit Chief in Atlin in 1987, serving with distinction throughout her career.
Theresa’s anniversary comes just two days before the BC Fallen Paramedic Memorial Day. We ask that you take a moment to remember Theresa and the nine other brothers and sisters who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to the people of British Columbia.
There is no time limit for grief. Although the intensity of emotions may lessen with time, the anniversary of a tragic event can evoke powerful memories and feelings. We would like to remind members that the Peer Critical Incident Stress Management Team is available 24/7 by pager at 1-855-969-4321.
Sincerely,
Provincial Executive Committee
