CUPE Local 40 – Potential Labour Dispute

Dear Members:

We have been advised of a potential labour dispute between Gate Gourmet and Local 40 who represent 400 workers who provide inflight meals for most flights departing YVR.  Local 40 is gearing up for strike action, and have advised that in the event of a strike they will be picketing the North and South gates at Miller Road and Jericho Road.  Although, Local 40 has not filed 72 hours strike notice, all indications are that a strike is imminent.

In view of the foregoing, we would like to advise members faced with a picket line at these locations to approach the line, ask to speak with the picket captain and communicate the nature of your business.
