Orange Shirt Day
September 30th marks a solemn day of remembrance and an opportunity for our members to recognize the healing journey of the survivors and families impacted by the residential school experience. As part of the Calls to Action by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation we are asking our members across British Columbia to wear an orange shirt or alternatively a piece of orange cloth.
We encourage our members to take this time to have meaningful dialogue and discussion as well as to broaden their understanding of the impacts, effects and legacy of residential schools as well as inclusion and cultural awareness.
