Provincial Presidential Candidates invited to upcoming union meeting

Attention: All Members – Region 2 East

Dear Members:

As you are all aware, elections for our Provincial Executive Committee will be held at convention this year. It is the responsibility of your elected delegates to vote on these important positions.

We would like to offer our regional membership the opportunity to meet the Provincial Presidential candidates running in this year’s election.  We recognize that delegates to convention bear the enormous responsibility of voting on behalf of the membership. However, we believe it is the role of our membership to provide their delegates with direction.  We hope that by providing a venue to meet the candidates, ALL members in our region are able to participate in the election process by creating an informed opinion to share with their delegates.

The candidates (Andrew Billing, Alan Boulier, Cameron Eby, Joshua Henshaw, David Hilder and Terry Rempel) have all received invites from the Region 2 East RVPs to attend our regional union meeting on September 26^th at the Quality Inn in Abbotsford at 7:00 pm. We are waiting for all of the RSVP’s, but we have already confirmed the attendance of multiple candidates. Each candidate will be given a limited amount of time to outline their platform and answer a short list of predetermined questions. Additional questions will be addressed on the meeting floor as time permits.

To prepare for this meeting, we would like to invite ALL members of our region to submit their questions for the Provincial Presidential candidates to 2ERVP@apbc.ca with the subject line “PROVINCIAL PRESIDENT QUESTIONS” by September 18^th. We will select the most commonly asked questions that encompass the needs and concerns of the membership as a whole.

We are very excited to host the first “all-candidates” meeting in our region. The success of this meeting depends on the participation of EVERYONE. Please do not hesitate to provide us with feedback. We encourage you to send us your comments, question and concerns. This meeting is the direct result of membership feedback and we will continue to use your feedback to create positive change. All members in good standing with our union are welcome to attend this meeting so please feel free to forward this email to any member that may be interested in attending (only region 2 east employees will count for quorum).
