President’s Update “I am excited to announce a first for our Union: we will be live web-broadcasting the opening and Presidents report from Convention 2018 to members across the province! This has never been done before by our Union and I hope this will be a successful and positive step forward in communicating to you, the membership. Please stay tuned for more details about how and when to connect.”

Representing in Fredricton “Ceremonial Unit members Bruce Honeyman and Nathanial Pottage travelled to Fredericton, New Brunswick to represent the Ambulance Paramedics and Emergency Dispatchers of BC at the Regimental Funeral for the two Fredericton Police Officers. “

Improving Communication within our Union “In order to celebrate one year, we want to hear from you! Tell us what you like or don’t like about our newsletter.  Email our Communication Director at jessica.chilton@apbc.ca and send us your thoughts on what we’ve been doing, and any ideas you have on how we can improve.”

World Suicide Prevention Day “September 10th Is World Suicide Prevention day and although it may be an uncomfortable topic arming yourself with recourses and obtaining education is the most powerful thing you can do to inform yourself, support your loved ones and help your patients. “

Environmental Awareness and Climate Change Committee Update  “In spring 2017, Oxford County Paramedic Service (Ontario) approached Crestline about doing things a little better. By fall 2017, Canada’s first hybrid gas-electric drive ambulance was being unveiled. Earlier this year, BCEHS announced that it had committed to buying ten of those hybrid-drive ambulances to trial in our service.”

What is new in Public Education? “As public safety officers, and experts in prehospital care – we are experts in emergency.  So, who is more qualified than a paramedic to help prevent an emergency?  Our members are dedicated to sharing that message with the public – and this is demonstrated through the numerous school visits, community involvement and charity events we participate in every year.”

And so much more!!
