Paramedic Bike Squad Team
The BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) utilizes APBC members to form Paramedic Bike Squads, which are deployed in several locations around British Columbia.
Our bike squad members are utilized 24hrs a day, seven days a week in the Vancouver International Airport – Station 270/YVR. These squads can provide quick response to all areas of the airport, including onboard both arriving and departing planes and aircraft. Squad members also become part of the Incident Command Structure (ICS) in the YVR Control Tower in the event of a large-scale airport response.
Under the umbrella of the Special Operations Team, bike squad members are also deployed at large-scale public events. Squads can quickly navigate crowds and areas where an ambulance simply cannot go. Our bike squads are utilized at various events, such as; the Vancouver “Celebration Of Lights” Fireworks, 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, parades, marathons, concerts, beach patrol and numerous other events.
